Augmented Reality:
Safe Navigation With 3D Support

Illustration of an AI-powered system that displays the position of a crane's hook or grapple in 3D space by drawing guide lines on a screen.

Cameras mounted beneath the cab or on the trolley provide a view of the grapple or hook and their surroundings, including all objects or buildings within the crane’s working area. Using computer vision techniques, guide lines are calculated to represent a virtual plumb line, a virtual height line, and a virtual danger zone. These lines are superimposed on the video stream, which is displayed on a screen in the cab.

AutoCrane's Augmented Reality feature are an integrated component of our CraneLink product line. CraneLink comprises CraneLink AR and CraneLink RC, our revolutionary remote control with which you can safely remote control your crane over vast distances using a standard internet connection.

Virtual Plumb Line

The virtual plumb line uses a line to indicate exactly where the hook or grapple is located above the ground or above an object. This helps the crane operator in the cab to accurately assess the actual position of the hook or grapple in space.

Virtual Collision Indicator

The virtual collision indicator draws a line at the current height of the hook or grapple on buildings or objects within the crane's working area. The line moves up or down along these objects as the crane operator adjusts the height of the hook or grapple. This helps the crane operator determine whether moving the load to its destination along the current path is safe.

Virtual Hazard Zone

A circle is drawn on the ground directly below the current position of the hook or grapple, with the size of this virtual danger zone adjusting to the current height of the hook or grapple. If objects fall from the hook or grapple, they are highly likely to hit the ground within this circle. In this way the hazard zone display helps the crane operator avoid areas where falling loads would be problematic.

The Virtual Hazard Zone will be available in H2 2026.

AutoCrane assistance systems

Collision Prevention

Intelligent obstacle detection for safe crane operation

Collision Prevention

If the system detects an impending collision between the grapple or hook and any object in the crane's working area, it creates an alert on the HMI and stops the crane. When used with partial or full autonomy, the system will circumvent the obstacle.

People Tracker

Enhanced safety through real-time monitoring

People Tracker

Our system recognizes people via AI while they are in the crane's operating area. It alerts the crane operator and, if desired, smoothly halts the system to prevent dangerous situations.
