Time Machine for Recording and Playback of Crane Operations

Illustration of the Time Machine system for recording and later playback of all sensor and control data from the crane during both automatic and manual operation.

In many cases, it is helpful to first record the crane's movements so that parts of the recording can be played back at a later time.

Recording

Our Time Machine module records all available sensor data from the crane in real time and stores it, creating a comprehensive log of every single operation. This includes:

  • Camera images and video data
  • LiDAR data
  • PLC signals and control data
  • Additional sensor data and system status

Playback

With Time Machine, crane operators, safety officers, and maintenance teams can “rewind” the log history to any point in time.

Time Machine provides a detailed replay of the situation and offers full insight into crane movements, environmental conditions, obstacles, operator actions, and control commands at any given moment.

This powerful tool supports crane operators with

  • Incident analysis and troubleshooting: Quickly identifying the causes of malfunctions or accidents
  • Training and process optimization: Analyzing workflows to improve efficiency
  • Safety audits and compliance: Comprehensive documentation to meet legal and operational requirements

By displaying video, LiDAR, and all sensor data on a synchronized, easy-to-navigate timeline, Time Machine ensures maximum transparency and in-depth insights into all crane operations.

Of course, the system complies with data protection regulations, and the faces of people in video footage are blurred before recording.

Time Machine will be available in the fourth quarter of 2026.

AutoCrane assistance systems

Collision Prevention

Intelligent obstacle detection for safe crane operation

Collision Prevention

If the system detects an impending collision between the grapple or hook and any object in the crane's working area, it creates an alert on the HMI and stops the crane. When used with partial or full autonomy, the system will circumvent the obstacle.

People Tracker

Enhanced safety through real-time monitoring

People Tracker

Our system recognizes people via AI while they are in the crane's operating area. It alerts the crane operator and, if desired, smoothly halts the system to prevent dangerous situations.

Augmented Reality

Safely Navigating in 3D

Augmented Reality Illustration

CraneLink's Augmented Reality features clearly show the grapple or hook's position in 3D space. This is a great help for the operator as they drive the load to its destination, and increases safety and speed.
